Festool FS 800/2 Guide Rail 800mm
At a Glance: Compact 800mm Festool guide rail for precise straight cuts, splinter-free sawing and accurately guided routing.
Bring outstanding accuracy and control to smaller cutting and routing tasks with the Festool FS 800/2 guide rail. This compact 800mm precision rail guides compatible Festool saws, routers and other system tools smoothly along the workpiece, helping users produce beautifully straight cuts and accurately positioned grooves. The integrated splinterguard sits directly on the cutting line and helps prevent tear-out on cuts both with and across the grain. Non-slip rubber strips support the rail on the workpiece, while the low-friction slideway lining allows compatible machines to travel smoothly and consistently. With integrated channels for clamps, connectors and Festool guide rail accessories, the FS 800/2 forms part of a versatile system that brings the tool to the workpiece and reduces measuring time, rework and wasted material.
At 800mm long, the FS 800/2 is easy to position and control on smaller panels, shelves, cabinet components and short cross cuts. Its precision aluminium profile works together with adjustable guidance jaws on compatible Festool machines, helping eliminate lateral movement and delivering accurate, repeatable results in the workshop or on site.
Product highlights
- Compact 800mm length: Easy to handle on smaller workpieces and in areas where longer rails are inconvenient.
- Accurate machine guidance: The precision profile guides compatible Festool tools along a straight, controlled path.
- Integrated splinterguard: Aligns with the cutting line and supports clean, low-splinter cuts.
- Non-slip rubber strips: Dual underside strips help resist unwanted rail movement on suitable surfaces.

- Important version note: This is a standard FS 800/2 rail without the LR 32 hole series or KP adhesive-pad cut-outs.
Features
- Precision aluminium profile: Provides a straight and stable guiding surface for compatible tools.
- 800mm overall rail length: Well suited to short cuts, compact panels and detailed workshop applications.
- Replaceable splinterguard: Defines the cut line and supports the workpiece fibres close to the blade.
- Replaceable slideway lining: Reduces friction between the machine base and guide rail.
- Dual non-skid strips: Increase grip between the rail and the workpiece surface.
- Clamping groove: Allows compatible Festool clamps to secure the rail without obstructing tool movement.
- Connector channels: Allow compatible guide rails to be joined for extended cutting lengths.
- Accessory-ready design: Integrates with Festool&s wider cutting, routing and workholding system.
Benefits
- Straighter cuts: Precision guidance removes much of the uncertainty associated with freehand cutting.
- Cleaner cut edges: The splinterguard supports the cutting edge and helps reduce tear-out.
- Faster setup: The splinterguard doubles as an exact cut-line reference once trimmed to the saw.
- Reduced rework: Improved accuracy helps prevent incorrectly positioned cuts and grooves.
- Improved material utilisation: Reliable alignment reduces the risk of costly cutting errors and wasted workpieces.
- Enhanced control: Non-slip strips and optional clamps help keep the rail securely positioned.
- Easy workshop handling: The short 800mm format is convenient for small workpieces and confined spaces.
- Expandable system: Additional guide rails can be connected when a longer working length is required.
Application
- Short, straight plunge-saw cuts.
- Cross-cutting boards, shelves and cabinet components.
- Trimming doors, panels and workpieces.
- Cutting sheet material with improved edge quality.
- Guided routing of straight grooves and channels.
- Producing rebates with a compatible router and guide stop.
- Accurately positioning cuts on finished workpieces.
- Workshop, installation and on-site cutting work.
- Joining with additional FS rails for longer cuts.
- Furniture manufacturing, cabinetry and interior fitting.
Extra Information
- Before its first precision cut, the splinterguard should be trimmed using the saw and blade that will normally be used with the rail.
- Once trimmed, the splinterguard indicates the actual cutting line, making alignment with pencil marks faster and more accurate.
- The usable cutting length is shorter than the rail&s overall 800mm length because sufficient space must remain for the saw to enter and leave the workpiece safely.
- The non-slip strips provide strong support on clean, suitable surfaces, but clamps should be used whenever movement could affect safety or accuracy.
- Longer cutting lengths can be created by joining the FS 800/2 to another compatible guide rail with the correct Festool connectors.
- Clamps, connectors, saws, routers, adapters and guide rail bags are not included unless otherwise stated.
- Keep the underside rubber strips and workpiece free from dust and debris to preserve grip and protect finished surfaces.
Pro Tips
- When trimming a new splinterguard, use a sharp blade, set the saw to a 90-degree cut and make one smooth pass along a stable test workpiece.
- Allow enough rail to extend beyond both ends of the workpiece so that the saw remains fully supported at the beginning and end of the cut.
- Adjust the tool&s guide jaws to eliminate side-to-side play while still allowing smooth movement along the rail.
- Use compatible Festool clamps when cutting narrow, valuable or slippery workpieces.
- When joining rails, align them with a reliable straightedge before tightening the connectors.
- Store the guide rail flat or in a suitable Festool guide rail bag to protect its profile and splinterguard.
- Replace a damaged splinterguard when it no longer accurately represents the cut line.
- Clean the slideway lining with a soft cloth rather than applying oils that could attract dust and contaminate the workpiece.
How to Use
- Inspect the guide rail, splinterguard, slideway lining and non-slip strips for damage or contamination.
- Place the workpiece on a stable, adequately supported cutting surface.
- Position the splinterguard directly against the marked cutting or routing line.
- Ensure that the rail extends sufficiently beyond both ends of the workpiece for safe tool entry and exit.
- Secure the rail with compatible clamps whenever additional holding force is required.
- Place the compatible tool onto the rail and adjust its guidance jaws to remove lateral play.
- Connect suitable dust extraction and set the required cutting depth or routing position.
- Start the machine before entering the material and guide it steadily along the rail without forcing it.
- Complete the cut while keeping the machine fully supported, then switch it off and wait for the tool to stop completely.
- Remove dust from the rail and inspect the splinterguard before storing it safely.
