Extra Information

Before its first precision cut, the splinterguard should be trimmed using the saw and blade that will normally be used with the rail.
Once trimmed, the splinterguard indicates the actual cutting line, making alignment with pencil marks faster and more accurate.
The usable cutting length is shorter than the rail&s overall 800mm length because sufficient space must remain for the saw to enter and leave the workpiece safely.
The non-slip strips provide strong support on clean, suitable surfaces, but clamps should be used whenever movement could affect safety or accuracy.
Longer cutting lengths can be created by joining the FS 800/2 to another compatible guide rail with the correct Festool connectors.
Clamps, connectors, saws, routers, adapters and guide rail bags are not included unless otherwise stated.
Keep the underside rubber strips and workpiece free from dust and debris to preserve grip and protect finished surfaces.

Pro Tips

When trimming a new splinterguard, use a sharp blade, set the saw to a 90-degree cut and make one smooth pass along a stable test workpiece.
Allow enough rail to extend beyond both ends of the workpiece so that the saw remains fully supported at the beginning and end of the cut.
Adjust the tool&s guide jaws to eliminate side-to-side play while still allowing smooth movement along the rail.
Use compatible Festool clamps when cutting narrow, valuable or slippery workpieces.
When joining rails, align them with a reliable straightedge before tightening the connectors.
Store the guide rail flat or in a suitable Festool guide rail bag to protect its profile and splinterguard.
Replace a damaged splinterguard when it no longer accurately represents the cut line.
Clean the slideway lining with a soft cloth rather than applying oils that could attract dust and contaminate the workpiece.

Place the workpiece on a stable, adequately supported cutting surface.
Position the splinterguard directly against the marked cutting or routing line.
Ensure that the rail extends sufficiently beyond both ends of the workpiece for safe tool entry and exit.

Place the compatible tool onto the rail and adjust its guidance jaws to remove lateral play.
Connect suitable dust extraction and set the required cutting depth or routing position.
